Plaza de España, Madrid

Once again, you'll see Madrid's sights revolve around Gran Vía - Plaza de España is probably one of the last areas you will want to venture to on the city's west side, unless you are headed to the Moncloa area.  The plaza of Plaza de España (Métro: Plaza de España) has a large, beautiful fountain with bronze figures of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.  The plaza makes a very nice area to rest on the grass when walking and shopping along Gran Vía has tired you out.

Some of the tallest buildings in Spain and surely the highest in the center of Madrid border the plaza.  The Torre de Madrid, has a bar at the top that makes an excellent viewpoint for seeing the city and is a far better choice than the Mirador del Faro.

Why not join the locals for a paseo (a walk around the favorite areas starting around 8PM from Plaza de España through Parque Oeste and take in views to the south of Casa de Campo?  The teleférico runs until 10PM most nights.
